It's not uncommon to occasionally need to send large files or documents to someone. And although an email attachment may seem like the obvious solution, it is important to know that Zingerman's does impose some size limits concerning email attachments. Zingerman's limits the size of both incoming and outgoing attachments to just 8 Megabytes. It's not just us either; almost all corporations and email services impose such limits in an effort to prevent a single piece of email from overloading their capacity. We believe that our limits are high enough that the normal use of email is preserved while remaining far enough under the industry standard limitations to ensure receivability. Fortunately there are quite a few alternatives to sending large files over the Internet, one of them being a FREE service called Dropload.
Dropload is a place for you to drop your files off and have them picked up by someone else at a later time. Recipients you specify are sent an email with instructions on how to download the file. Files are removed from the system after 7 days, regardless if they have been picked up or not. You can upload any type of file, mp3, movies, docs, and pdfs, up to 100MB each. Recipients can be anyone with an email address

As a first time user of Dropload you will need to create an account by clicking the 'signup now' link on the Dropload home page. After entering a few details and clicking the 'create account' button an email will be sent to your mailbox that will contain instructions on how to activate your account. After activating your account, you are now ready to use the Dropload service.
After logging in there are just 4 easy steps to sending a file to someone.
1. Enter a recipient's email address in the 'To' field or click on the button labeled 'Previous' to choose from a list of previous recipients.
2. Click 'Browse' then highlight the file you wish to send and click 'open'
3. You can also enter a personal message to the recipient in the 'Note' field
4. Click 'Drop it'
A popup window will appear and give the status of the file upload. (Larger files can take several minutes)
Once the upload has completed the recipient will receive an e-mail similar to the one below. All the recipient needs to do is to follow the link and download the file.
